Vallei en Veluwe proactively sought a closed-loop and cost-effective phosphorus and sludge management strategy. As leaders in resource recovery, Eliquo and Ostara provided a solution
to their challenges.
Nutrient and energy recovery at Amersfoort WWTP helps meet Vallei & Veluwe’s key performance indicators and address economic and environmental challenges including:
- Cost-effectively recover excess phosphorus for sustainable and commercial reuse
- To reduce overall sludge processing costs while increasing digester capacity
- To become energy-positive – i.e. sell electricity back to the grid
- To achieve a payback period of 7 years
